FILLING OUT YOUR BALLOT? QUESTIONS ABOUT PROP. 30? From the Tzedek Council
The California Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC-CA) recently put forth a proposal to officially endorse Proposition 30 as part of its Climate Tzedek campaign. The ballot initiative, if passed, would tax personal income over $2m/year in order to fund the battle against climate change beyond Governor Newsom's already green-lit programs.
Because of pushback from some clergy and lay leaders, RAC-CA declined to take a position, and instead released a two-page Q&A to educate congregations on the issue and clear up some misinformation that's crept into the public debate. You can read the quick two page summary here .
Whichever side you land on, be sure to VOTE, and VOTE EARLY!
We are excited to announce the return of Shabbat Awakening, our monthly, informal Shabbat morning service in the round. We hope you'll join Rabbi Levy and Student Rabbi Salzman in person or on the livestream on Facebook, YouTube, and the Kol Ami website!

In a remote corner of the world, forgotten for nearly three thousand years, lived an enclave of Kurdish Jews so isolated that they still spoke Aramaic, the language of Jesus. Mostly illiterate, they were self-made mystics, gifted storytellers, and humble peddlers who dwelt in harmony with their Muslim and Christian neighbors in the mountains of northern Iraq. To these descendants of the Lost Tribes of Israel, Yona Sabar was born. REGISTER HERE
