Our Temple was founded in 1992 with a unique vision: to be a progressive, Reform congregation rooted in a rich Jewish tradition, with a commitment to social justice, Israel and diversity that guides us in the present and transforms our future. We believe in widening the tent to all.  Since our founding, Kol Ami has become the significant Jewish voice in West Hollywood, reflecting the diversity of our city.

People who seek a community rich in diversity and committed to social justice will find a welcoming home at Congregation Kol Ami. All are welcome here. Our community includes lesbian, gay, and bisexual Jews, trans and gender non-conforming people and allies; interfaith couples, Jews by choice, Jews by birth, Jews of color, people who are Jew-curious, single people, couples, families, people of all ages -- truly all are welcome at Kol Ami!

As a congregation, we experience something greater than ourselves. All of us together create the inclusiveness, joy, and sense of belonging that inspire us to continue building and supporting the community. We are engaged in Jewish experience, culture, social activity and education that incorporates feminist Jewish theology, gender equality, and diverse sexual and gender identities in our theology and practice.

We strive to make our Jewish voice and presence in the community a voice of conscience, reason, and compassion, linking our spirituality to our commitment to social justice.

Kol Ami is affiliated with the Reform movement and the Union of Reform Judaism.  We seek to embrace the heritage of our people and make it our own in a new, vibrant way, so that we can carry Judaism into the 21st century and beyond.

At Kol Ami we are not afraid to question the tradition, while at the same time honoring it.  In this way, we hope to create a unique blend of tradition and innovation.
