Religious School
Kol Ami's members receive access to Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills Sunday School. We offer classes from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. The curriculum is segmented into Kindergarten through Second Grade, Third through Sixth Grade, Seventh Grade (only) and Eighth through Twelfth Grade.
Kol Ami and Temple Emanuel believe in "Living Judasim." Students deeply engage in prayer, integrate Jewish traditions and values into their modern lives and learn to understand the Hebrew language, prayers and texts. Children's individual interests are incorporated and encouraged throughout their classes and individual attention is given to each student in tailored programs. The approach to Jewish education centers on an experiential and project-based environment where all students are actively engaged. The students are building a confident Jewish community around them, developing their Jewish identity and learning the language necessary to explain what being Jewish means to them. Jewish life is joyfully experienced through singing, praying, and connecting. Hebrew is introduced and seamlessly infused throughout the day, and students are encouraged to experiment and discover their own Jewish identities.
We are also proud to announce the PASSPORT Teen Programs for our teenagers! Our teens have the ability to become Madrichim, where they receive leadership training and set goals for themselves while aiding and assisting the Religious School, as well as to participate in the PASSPORT program, which offers them a chance to build on their Jewish identities with their peers that culminates in an incredible travel experience. This one-of-a-kind leadership development program is designed as a creative, fun experience for teens to enrich their preparation for college and the bright futures ahead of them.
For 8th grade students Passport gets participants to "Explore Judaism in the Wilderness." A 3-day adventure allows young teens to experience their Jewish traditions while exploring the beauty of a national park.
