Shalom from your board Co-Presidents! As we enter our second year of service to our beloved Kol Ami community, we are writing to share our monthly updates. We want to hear from you! Feel free to share feedback and suggestions to our Kol Ami email addresses: leonard@kol-ami.org and rebecca@kol-ami.org.
Welcome Rabbi Reznick: We are so happy to welcome Rabbi Lindy Reznick as Kol Ami’s second senior rabbi. We have been meeting with the rabbi regularly to help connect her with members and plan for the coming year. If you haven’t already gotten a chance to meet her, we hope you’ll join us at an upcoming program or send her an email introducing yourself (rabbireznick@kol-ami.org).
Friday Night Experiences: We have heard from you how important music is for everything we do at Kol Ami. Rabbi Reznick is experimenting with different styles of tefiliah and ways of using music in Friday night services. We are grateful for the partnership with Josh Finkel and to the various musicians who have volunteered their time and talents. We invite you to join us each week as we experiment with different options and please do share feedback with our Rabbi.
High Holy Days: We have begun planning vibrant and meaningful High Holy Day programming for Kol Ami. Thank you to Adam and Yanir for putting together a 2024-2025 calendar of Jewish holidays, which you can access on our website: https://www.kol-ami.org/jewish-holidays.
Board Retreat: Your Board of Trustees met on July 12 for the summer board retreat. Topics included member engagement and development, committee structure, music, fundraising, and programming. We also spent time reflecting on the book Relational Judaism: Using the Power of Relationships to Transform the Jewish Community.
We look forward to sharing the learnings with the community and lay leaders throughout the year. There’s so much to do on all the topics we discussed, we hope you will get involved over the coming year to help us build the community.
