Co-President Update

Shalom from your board Co-Presidents! We are writing to share our monthly updates. As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions to our Kol Ami email addresses: leonard@kol-ami.org and rebecca@kol-ami.org.

Annual Congregational Meeting: Thank you to our members who participated in the Annual Congregational Meeting on June 6, 2024 to elect our 2024-2025 board of trustees and pass the budget. We recognize how challenging transition years can be, and are grateful for everyone’s support the past year- whether it was renewing your membership, coming to High Holy Days, making sandwiches for the Hollywood Food Coalition, participating in the rabbi search process, stepping up to lead a program - or any other way you were  involved. 

Board of Trustees: We take a moment to thank both William Weinberger and Janene Sneider who have completed their service on the board. We welcome Jane Drucker who was elected during the congregational meeting, and are happy that Murray Levin and Yaffa Hughes have been re-elected. 

Budget: Our 2024-2025 budget is grounded in our mission, vision, and values, and is an ambitious plan focused on the opportunities for our community to grow with our new rabbi. Members can view  the budget presentation on the Members Only web page. We have cut a number of expenses, and need your help to achieve some of the income goals including helping us fundraise outside of the synagogue, increase membership, and increase facility rentals. 

Getting Involved: During the Congregational Meeting, we spoke about what it means to be a member. As we work to grow over the next year, we want each and every member of our community  to get involved in the way that is most meaningful for them. We have identified 10 ways to get involved - please reach out to let us know what you’re interested in.

Bring a friend to Friday night services
Refer a member (new or returning)
Sponsor an oneg, music, etc.
Host an event in your home
Get involved with a committee
Promote Kol Ami for filming/events
Help us find an office tenant
Research outside funding opportunities
Store our sukkah supplies
Share your story

Our New Rabbi: Our new Rabbi Lindy Reznick starts on July 1. We have been meeting with her over the past few weeks to ensure a smooth transition, and are so excited for you to meet with her. Her first Friday night service will be Friday, July 5, 2024 at 7:05 pm. We will share more information about opportunities to engage with Rabbi Reznick in the coming weeks. Please take time to introduce yourself and share what makes Kol Ami such a special place for you.  

Gala: We look forward to seeing many of you at the Just Imagine gala on Sunday, June 23. Thank you to Cary Davidson and Walter Hubert for co-chairing the event, and Cantor Mark Saltzman for your leadership and talents.
