Shalom from your board co-presidents! We are writing to share our monthly updates. As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions to our Kol Ami email addresses: leonard@kol-ami.org and rebecca@kol-ami.org.
Prioritizing Intergenerational Programming: As co-presidents, we seek to strengthen our Kol Ami community with an increased focus on intergenerational programming. We hope you will join us for one of these upcoming programs. Please register in advance so we can have a headcount.
- Sunday, January 28: Intergenerational Board Game Day - The Kol Ami Membership Committee is hosting an intergenerational board ‘game night’ at Dan Blatt’s home near Koreatown. This event is an informal afternoon for Kol Ami people of all ages to gather, nosh, and play card and board games. Register
- Friday, February 9: Intergenerational Shabbat Schmooze - The Open Yad Project invites everyone at Kol Ami to stick around after Friday night Shabbat services for drinks, food, and good company on the roof of the synagogue. Register
Membership Directory Coming Soon: We are pleased to share the return of the Kol Ami members-only membership directory! Thank you to Hope Faust for presenting to the board about the importance of the membership directory for community building and supporting one another in difficult times. We will share more information about this in the coming weeks. Please be assured that the directory will be opt-in only to protect privacy. This means the directory will only contain your information if you want it included.
Rabbi Search Updates: The Rabbi Search Committee is hosting a site visit for a second candidate, Rabbi Lindy Reznick, the first weekend of February. She will meet with various stakeholder groups during the weekend, including the board, past presidents, MOKA/WOKA leaders, Open Yad, and Rabbi Lutz. We invite you to join Rabbi Reznick for a temple-wide virtual teaching on Zoom on Saturday, February 3, at 2:00 pm. Please register so we know you are attending. The Search Committee is eager for your feedback and will share a survey after the session.
In closing, we would like to thank Cantor Mark Saltzman, Marc Purchin, and Debbie Futrowsky for organizing the Finding Your Voice event last weekend. It was a meaningful afternoon of music, meditation, and gathering. Thank you for reading this update, and we look forward to seeing you at shul soon.
