Greetings,

Shana tova and happy new year from your co-presidents. We have enjoyed seeing you at our various high holy day services (HHD) and programs, both in the sanctuary and under the sukkah. As your board co-presidents, we would like to share some gratitude and updates. As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions to our Kol Ami email addresses: leonard@kol-ami.org and rebecca@kol-ami.org.

High Holy Day Gratitude:
  • Thank you Rabbi Lutz, Cantor Linsky, and our musicians led by musical director Alin Melik-Adamyan for bringing joy and meaning to the holidays through music and care for the community.
  • The high holy days would not have been possible without the leadership of our incredible staff including Devorah, Adam, Travis, Yanir, Hugo, and Pedro. They have worked around the clock the past few months to ensure that services would run smoothly and safely. Special thanks to Marilyn Ader for coordinating the honors along with Jane Drucker. Thank you also to our volunteer ushers, led by Leesa Freed, for providing a warm welcome for each person who attended.
  • Over 140 people came to the first annual community-wide intergenerational break-fast! Thank you to our host Don Klein, as well as the event planners Hope Faust, Steve Addison, Gideon Murphy, and David Kaminski. This was an excellent example of lay leadership and community building.
  • Thank you to our sponsors and everyone who gave during the HHD giving campaign to help sustain our congregation during this crucial transition year.

Rabbi Search: The rabbinic search committee has submitted an application to the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) for our opening, and the application has been posted on their secure portal. We have already started to receive applications and the committee is working to develop interview questions. We will continue to update as we move forward and communicate opportunities to engage in the process.

Staffing Transition: As we shared a few weeks ago, our Executive Director Devorah Servi’s last day was September 30. She was an instrumental leader during this transition time both behind the scenes and for our programs. We want to assure you that synagogue operations will continue during this staffing transition. For any matters that you would normally contact Devorah to discuss, please reach out to either Adam Rotenberg (membership@kol-ami.org) or Rabbi Lutz (rabbilutz@kol-ami.org).
