Dear Congregation Kol Ami and Friends,
I am writing this letter to you on Rosh Chodesh Elul, the celebration of the new month Elul. This time of year is so precious. It means we are in the final month of this Jewish calendar, and one month away from the High Holy Days. We use this time of Elul to reflect on ourselves, our relationships and prepare us for entering the New Year. Jewish tradition gives us an entire month as an on-ramp to the High Holy Day season.
During this season, we listen to the call of the Shofar daily, to awaken our souls. We recite Psalm 27 which centers us in the season, and we do some deep soul searching to prepare our hearts. I want to invite you to celebrate, learn and be in community with Kol Ami, as we prepare for The High Holy Days of 5785. Please join me in our Elul classes online, starting tonight, Wednesday September 4th at 7pm online. Registration is on our website.
Through our deep work may we remove the barriers encasing our hearts, and open ourselves to transformation.
Chodesh Tov, Happy New Month,
Rabbi Lindy Reznick
Senior Rabbi, Congregation Kol Ami.
