Dear Kol Ami,  I can’t believe it has been 30 days since I started as your Senior Rabbi at Congregation Kol Ami. The time has flown by so quickly. In this short time, I have begun to get to know some of you on a more personal level. I continue to do the beautiful work of having one on one meetings to learn your needs, hopes and dreams, and special talents that you bring to this community. I invite you, if you haven’t already, to set up a meeting with me soon.  I am also learning that Kol Ami was not built in a day. The 30 years that Rabbi Eger created this beautiful community, is a reminder that it will take time for us to find our groove and re-create in ways that we find meaningful for this next phase of Congregation Kol Ami. I invite your sacred partnership so that together as one community we can make some amazing things happen. I have many huge dreams for the community, and they can only happen with a dedicated partnership from you, our congregants, friends, lay leaders, and committed Kol Ami volunteers.  Over the next few months I will be introducing the concept of “Relational Judaism.” A book by the same name, penned by Dr. Ron Wolfson, teaches about how spiritual communities are strong due to the strength of relationships between congregants and leadership and clergy, relationships from congregants to congregants, and relationships between congregants and their spiritual journey. My goal is to create opportunities this year to strengthen each of these core ideas. I look forward to building together a stronger connected Jewish community where you are both seen and heard.  I invite you to join me for this week’s shabbat service, we welcome back Lisa Edwards, and we will explore The Jewish people and Moses’s Journeying. Shabbat Shalom!
