Soon the Gates of Heaven will open to our Yom Kippur prayers. This year, 5782 is a Shmitta year. Every seven years is a sabbatical year. It is a year, according to the Tanakh, our Bible, when the land in Israel must lie fallow and debts are released. It is a year of renewal. As we gather together both in person and online we will be one sacred congregation combining our hearts and souls in earnest supplication to the Holy One of Blessing. We shall pray to renew our spirits for the year ahead. We shall pray for release and cleansing of any transgression and sins. We shall seek forgiveness for our errors and misdeed and hopefully, grant that forgiveness to those who may have harmed us, intentionally or unintentionally.
May the words of our heart, and the meditations of our souls be acceptable to the Holy, Eternal One and may you find a sense of peace at the end of Yom Kippur Day. May you and your family be inscribed in the Book of Life Well Lived for the shmitta year ahead.
On behalf of myself, Cantor LInsky, Rabbi Levy and our Board of Trustees we wish you a gmar chatimah tovah, and look forward to being with you during this Yom Kippur.
