Mazal Tov to Rabbi Chaiken! Last month, we shared with you the news that Rabbi Chaiken would be leaving Kol Ami at the end of our fiscal year this summer.
Today, we are excited to share an update on his plans, as he has accepted the position to become the Rabbi of Temple Emanuel in Andover, MA later this summer.
Incredibly, Rabbi Eger and Rabbi Chaiken discovered a connection between our two congregations last fall. Our Holocaust Torah Scroll, on permanent loan from the Memorial Scrolls Trust, comes from Polna in the Czech Republic. The Trust has only 3 other "sibling" scrolls from the town of Polna—and amazingly, one of them resides with Temple Emanuel in Andover!
This is just one of the many connections we will cherish with Rabbi Chaiken for many years to come, and luckily, we have several months left until we say "l'hitraot—see you soon." To read more about Kol Ami's search for our new rabbi, click here.
Mazel Tov! Travis Terry officially became part the Covenant of the Jewish people yesterday, as he celebrated his conversion to Judaism. Congratulations, Travis!
Kosher for Passover! Hard to believe Passover will soon be with us. The first Seder would be Saturday night March 27. Kol Ami will hold our Second night community Seder online on Sunday night March 28 at 6 pm If you want to order a Kosher for Passover Meals, the American Jewish University catering will be preparing and delivering this year! (They have catered our Community Seder for several years.) Orders must be in by March 17. Food will be delivered (anywhere in a 40 mi radius to AJU) to your doorstep.
