In a partnership with the City of West Hollywood’s Homeless Initiative, and Housing Works (a non-profit that provides housing and support services to unhoused individuals, victims of domestic violence, at risk-youth, Veterans, and people dealing with severe physical or mental illness or substance abuse) Congregation Kol Ami was able to outfit the kitchen of a community member who moved into his own apartment! Through our Tzedakah funds, Kol Ami was able to provide a help up, complete with brand new pots & pans, dishes, glassware, utensils, a microwave, even a table and chairs for the community member. The community member expressed thanks and said he was excited to receive all the nice, new stuff he received from our community.
Visit http://housingworksca.org to learn more about the program. You can help underwrite outreach programs like this by making a donation to our Tzedakah funds Here

Are you interested in helping strengthen Kol Ami’s commitment to the transgender, non-binary and gender diverse communities? We invite you to join the Gender Diversity Task Force to help us evaluate Kol Ami’s current programming, policies, and social climate through the lens of gender inclusivity. We will then work to plan education opportunities (such as film screenings, panel discussions, workshops, and Shabbat speakers) and brainstorm ways to enact policy changes. Email Leonard Slutsky (leonard@slutsky.us) to express your interest in being part of the workgroup. You do not have to be gender diverse to be a part of this task force.
We're part of the JewItAtHome collaboration, offering programs online for all of us to remain connected and engaged Jewishly during this challenging time.
