Virtual Virtuoso Concert - Days of Awe: A Symphonic High Holy Days with composer and conductor Steven Rothstein, Ph.D.

Congregation Kol Ami in conjunction with the Judaic Sacred Music Foundation presents Dr. Steven Rothstein, Ph.D. composer and conductor of the Days of Awe, a new symphony utilizing the themes and tropes of the High Holy Days. Dr. Rothstein will present the first two movements of his symphony recorded by the Bratslava Studio Symphony (conducted by Valdimir Martinka) and engage in a wonderful presentation on the music of the High Holy Days and the creation of his groundbreaking symphony.

A Taste of Judaism

Sunday's final class taught by Rabbi Denise L. Eger and Rabbi Max Chaiken is the perfect way to explore whether you might be interested in our Introduction to Judaism course, an 18-session course starting Oct. 11, 2020.

We look forward to beginning 5781 together, our Jewish New Year. This year we will do so by taking A Journey of the Heart. These will be the most unique High Holy Days of our lives as we celebrate online. While we cannot travel physically to be together, we can, and we will, take the journey through the Holy Days together - to lift our spirits, renew our souls, and open our hearts wide to forgiveness, love, and hope.
We hope by now you have received information about our High Holy Days in the mail. Return that information by mail to  become a sponsor, purchase additional tickets at a discounted members-only rate, and honor your loved ones' memory with a gift to our Yizkor Scroll of Memory.

Selichot, Forgiveness and the Great Honey Cake Bake-Off Challenge

Saturday Sept. 12, 7:00 PM 
Join us for our online Selichot observance. Rabbi Denise L. Eger and Rabbi Max Chaiken will begin with Havdalah and then we will learn with Chef Julia Rhoton how to make the best Rosh Hashanah Honey Cake ever. Be sure to assemble the ingredients in advance -  see recipe here - and then Chef Julia will take us step-by-step through this amazing online baking experience. While we are baking our honey cakes, we will have time to reflect on the Journey of the Heart toward the New Year, forgiveness and sing together the traditional Selichot prayers. Register here.
