Anti-Bias & Anti-Racism TrainingAugust 16 & 30, 4:00 PM Relearn history, question your biases, and develop new skills to combat racism in yourself and your society with Congregation Kol Ami! Join us as we welcome Essence Cohen Fields, Licensed Professional Counselor to our virtual space on Zoom. In these two sessions, we will learn about the trauma of racism from a mental health perspective, and the historical context of systemic racial injustice in our society, particularly as it relates to the current movement and community uprising. We will work towards identifying our own biases—stereotypes, prejudices, micro-aggressions, as well as discussing best practices to support marginalized groups and strategies for allyship and activism. Join our community and our Anti-Racism Working Group as we recommit to the fight against racism in ourselves, our communities, and our society at large. We strongly encourage participants to attend both sessions, but all are welcome to learn with us on either date. Register here.
Please help us continue our support of the families in the village of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Guatemala. Students continue to participate in school either through the Internet or class assignments. Guatemala’s coronavirus cases are dramatically increasing each day. Many families are struggling without work and weaving sales. Since there is no government or community support, Nueva Generación has started a Food Drive Campaign to provide food the families on a monthly basis. Donate here and in the note section indicate: Guatemala Fund Donation. Kol Ami continues to sponsor the scholarships for Jared and Mario pictured above.
