The first Sanctuary gathering of the year is happening in the literal sanctuary that Cantor Saltzman helped to build nearly 25 years ago. "I couldn’t be more thrilled to be back in my spiritual and Cantoral home, Congregation Kol Ami in West Hollywood," Cantor Saltzman said.
In difficult times, we sometimes feel that that we are being boxed into a corner from which there is no escape. We can feel that in this darkness, there is no freedom, no possible way to move forward or outward. But even in the darkness, light can be cultivated to grow and to flourish, especially within our chosen communities. We can each be that light as well as the catalyst to create a path to freedom for ourselves and for the world around us. As Nelson Mandela taught us, “To be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others”.
