2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Photographer Bill Aron takes us on a private tour of his photographs, exhibiting Soviet Jewish Life at the Wende Museum, Culver City.
We will also have a separate private tour of the core collection of the Wende Museum dedicated to the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union with a museum educator.
This is an in-person event.
Proof of Vaccination will be required for entrance. Please register in advance.

Aron gained international recognition for his first book, From The Corners Of The Earth, which chronicles the Jewish communities of the former Soviet Union, Cuba, Jerusalem, New York and Los Angeles, and was published in 1986, with an introduction by Chaim Potok, by The Jewish Publication Society.
In 2002, Algonquin Books published a second volume of his work, Shalom Y’all: Images of Jewish Life in the American South, with an introduction by Alfred Uhry.
His most recent book, New Beginnings: The Triumphs of 120 Cancer Survivors (Skyhorse Publishing, 2015), focuses on survivors who have not let their diagnosis prevent them from living their lives to the fullest; in many cases, the diagnosis has served as an impetus to better their lives. Jane Brody wrote the introduction, with prefaces by Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary), retired U.S. Congressman Henry Waxman, and Rabbi David Wolpe.
During the past several years, Aron has also produced large-scale multi-image panoramas of Israel, by stitching together numerous images into one photograph. That work has been exhibited at the Herzliya Art Center in December of 2011, at the Pucker Gallery in Boston in May, 2012, and at the Wiell Art Gallery of the 92nd St. Y in New York City in the Fall of 2012.
Aron lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons, where he is most likely the only photographer with a Ph.D. in sociology.
