Exploring Our Jewish Journeys Through Art Therapy with JIMENA

Sunday, July 24, 2022 25 Tammuz 5782

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
The Open Yad Project and JIMENA invite Jewish Young Professionals from all backgrounds to join us for an evening of art, expression, and self-reflection. Participants will use art as a means to share their family journeys and engage in meaningful conversation about intergenerational trauma and Jewish identity.

The session will be facilitated by Mastaneh Moghadam, LCSW, the co-founder and executive director of Cross-Cultural Expressions, a counseling center that bridges cultural gaps to enhance the human experience. The event will include art supplies, drinks, and a light kosher dinner, and will take place on the roof deck of Congregation Kol Ami in West Hollywood.

Pre-registration is $15 and day-of registration will be $20.

JIMENA (Jews Indigineous to the Middle East and North Africa) was created in 2002 by former Jewish refugees from the Middle East and North Africa who desired to share their personal stories and rich culture with college students, policy makers and North American Jewish communal and lay leaders throughout North America. JIMENA speakers have shared personal testimonies with government agencies all over the world, more than 80 Universities in North America and hundreds of organizations. As the only organization in North America exclusively focused on educating and advocating on behalf of Jewish refugees and Mizrahi Jews from Arab countries, they remain a thought-leader and resource center for multiple institutions advancing the history, heritage and culture of Mizrahi and Sephardic Jews.
