Congregation Kol Ami extends a special invitation for you to join us for the 2007/5768 High Holy Days.  As West Hollywood's only Reform Synagogue, we reach out to all people with compassionate arms and open doors. We encourage you to join us at Services for a time to reflect, replenish, and to "Share the Story" of Judaism with your family, friends and extended family.

Our good friend and progressive neighbor, Immanuel Presbyterian Church at 3300 Wilshire Boulevard has graciously offered their magnificent facility for our Services.  The sanctuary is spacious with more than enough seating for all of our congregants, families and friends; and, there is ample parking in the immediate vicinity.  We are honored to be following in the footsteps of Wilshire Boulevard Temple which previously held services at the same location for more than thirty years.  We look forward to worshiping together in this beautiful and historic venue.

This year’s High Holy Days Services are scheduled as follows:

Selichot Services – Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
          (Held at Congregation Kol Ami)

Erev Rosh Hashanah – Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 8:00 p.m.

Rosh Hashanah Morning, First Day – Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.

Rosh Hashanah Children’s Services – Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.

Rosh Hashanah Morning, Second Day – Friday, September 14, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
          (Held at Congregation Kol Ami)

Kol Nidre – Friday, September 21, 2007 at 8:00 p.m.

Yom Kippur Morning – Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.

Yom Kippur Children’s Services – Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.

12 Step Meeting – Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

Yizkor and Neilah Services – Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 3:30 p.m.

In addition to our regular Services there are a number of additional opportunities for participation.

Selichot, meaning forgiveness, is the beginning of our spiritual preparation for the Days of Awe.  This year,
Kol Ami will observe Selichot with a service and study session Saturday, September 8th at our Temple,
1200 North La Brea Avenue at 7:00 p.m.  We will begin with Havdalah, study the meaning of the High Holy
Days, followed by the dramatic Selichot service.  There is no charge for the study session or service.

Kol Ami offers High Holy Days educational programs for our children ages 3 and older.  Expert Jewish educators
create fun and exciting activities for our children while observing the High Holy Days.  Please indicate on the
Children's Program Form if you wish your child(ren) to participate.  Children’s Services will be held during morning services at 10:30 a.m. on both Rosh Hashanah (Day One only) and Yom Kippur.  In addition to the Children’s Services we offer children’s programs during all other services.  Please note that the medical release form is also mandatory for this program.

For our 12-Step Program members and guests we offer a “Judiasm and the 12 Steps” meeting, which will be
referencing the Twelve Jewish Steps to Recovery. This specially designed meeting is scheduled between the
morning and afternoon Services on Yom Kippur at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian.

We will be preparing a Memorial Book (Yizkor Book) for Yom Kippur.  This is an opportunity to memorialize
beloved family and friends who have died.  Please complete the Yizkor Book Form and return to the Temple.

Our congregation uses On Wings of Awe as our High Holy Days prayer book.  If you have one from previous
years be sure to bring it with you.  Prayer books can be purchased in advance or on the day of Services.
There will be LIMITED books available the day of Services.  Please indicate on the ticket order form if you will
be purchasing a prayer book(s).

Our Social Action Committee has arranged for us to participate in the annual food drive for the JFS/SOVA
Community Food and Resource Program.  Brown paper bags will be available during the High Holy Days Services for you to pick-up and fill, then return to us for delivery to SOVA.

Additional sponsorship opportunities can include donating toward the Bimah flowers for all the Services or the
Rosh Hashanah Oneg.  More information can be found in the form links above.

We look forward to seeing you and to sharing our stories together during the Holy Day season!

Shalom,

Rabbi Denise L. Eger                Cantor Mark Saltzman              Stephen H. Weiss, President
