Kol Ami Board of Trustees In Solidarity With Israel
At its monthly meeting Wednesday evening, the Kol Ami Board of Trustees enacted the following Resolution to demonstrate our solidarity with Israel:
Be it RESOLVED by the Kol Ami Board of Trustees that our synagogue expresses its heartfelt support for, and solidarity with, Israel and our spiritual leader, Rabbi Denise Eger, who remains in Israel with her family during this time of strife. Further, be it RESOLVED that our Temple has made a significant contribution to the Jewish Federation "Israel in Crisis" Fund, in solidarity with our members.
Support Israel. Support Kol Ami.
As part of a broad-based group of community organizations and synagogues organized by the Jewish Federation, here's what you can do now to support Israel:
1. Participate in the major community rally scheduled on Sunday, July 23 at 4:00 p.m. in front of the Goldsmith Center, 6505 Wilshire Blvd. (please see attached flyer). Kol Ami members will be there with the Kol Ami banner to create a meeting place for all Kol Ami members who can participate. We are mobilizing across the community to ensure attendance by the Jewish community and our friends in the general community. Please tell your friends to join us to express solidarity with Israel at a dangerous moment.
2. Make a personal donation to the Jewish Federation's Israel in Crisis Fund. As stated above, your Board of Trustees voted to make a substantial contribution at its meeting last night. Checks can be made out to "Jewish Federation, Israel in Crisis." 100% of all contributions to this fund will be immediately sent to Israel without any overhead (except credit card administrative charges). The first clearly identified need is to get Israeli children out of harms way.
3. Help promote the world's awareness of the reality of this situation. Let your friends and others know that the U.S. House of Representatives voted for a Resolution backing Israel's right to self defense (see the attached House Resolution). The resolution reaffirms both Israel's right to self defense and to take actions to limit the capacity for further aggression by the terrorist groups and their state sponsors, Iran and Syria.
For your information, we have also attached the following: Two Los Angeles Times Editorials, American Jewish Committee FAQ on Lebanon, Iran's Role in Escalating the Crisis, and Hezbollah's Attack on Israel- AJC Talking Points.
Your support is needed and greatly appreciated.
