MUSIC AT KOL AMI: ELLIS ISLAND, KOL HASHAMAYIM SERIES 2005 CONTINUES
The highly successful Kol Hashamayim series continues at Congregation Kol Ami on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the premiere of "Ellis Island, An Oral History of Immigration in America.
This staged production features a cast of singers, actors, and performance artists to draw poignant portraits of the immigrants who flooded to America at the beginning of the twentieth century. Transcribed from actual verbal accounts and their real life experiences, "Ellis Island paints vivid pictures of the millions of people who left their homelands, and everything they knew and loved to come to America, the land of hope and promise.
The texts have been set to music by Alan Smith, with additional material, and an innovative staging created by Cantor Saltzman, to take the audience on an interactive, humorous, and meaningful, theatrical journey. The audience will have the opportunity to experience the wonder, the heartache, the adventure, and the celebration of a generation of people that influenced and changed the face of America forever.
The concert will take place at Congregation Kol Ami, 1200 North La Brea Avenue, West Hollywood at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Kol Ami members and $20 for guests. Reservations can be made by calling the Temple office at 323-606-0996.
