MUSIC AT KOL AMI

The highly successful Kol Hashamayim series continues this year at Congregation Kol Ami with a new season of provocative musical explorations including the exciting premiers of three major musical and theatrical works.

The series begins with the chamber music of the Pacifica Trio on Sunday, February 27, 2005 when internationally renowned cellist John Walz will be performing. The concert will also feature the premier of a beautiful and moving new work commissioned from Emmy and Academy award winning composer Lee Holdridge, especially written for the Trio and Cantor Saltzman. The concert will take place at Congregation Kol Ami, 1200 North La Brea Avenue, West Hollywood at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Kol Ami members and $20 for guests. Reservations can be made by calling the Temple office at 323-606-0996.

The second concert on Sunday, April 17, 2005 brings the fully staged premiere of a meaningful, interactive, theatrical journey portraying the Ellis Island experience of immigrating to America. The music is adapted from Alan Smith’s stunning Ellis Island song cycle, and staged with an ensemble of the finest singing actors in Los Angeles, as well as the eye popping acrobats from the Eye of Newt Circus.

On Sunday, June 5, 2005, the final concert of the season will feature the premier of a new music theatre piece that takes an in depth look and listen at the creatively stimulating and emotional complex music and life of the late Leonard Bernstein. All three concerts are not to be missed! Please join us in the beautiful sanctuary of Congregation Kol Ami for another year of stimulating afternoons and inspiring music.
