Peace Illumination Project

Peace Illumination Installation Graces West Hollywood

World-renowned lighting artist Bart Kresa, in conjunction with Congregation Kol Ami and the
Voice of My People Foundation, launched a spectacular art instillation display which ran from November 30th through December 11th. Three distinct lighting installation designs were projected onto the exterior front façade of Congregation Kol Ami. The concept was a unique project developed to stimulate conversation and communal dialogue on the subject of Peace within our great city. At the Holiday Season this is especially important. The project’s intent was to cause a shift in consciousness and awareness on the subject of Peace through light and art. It is estimated that more than 10,000 people passed by this impressive spectacle each evening, and more than 100,000 over the course of the installation.

About the Artist
The artist, Bart Kresa (www.bartkresa.com) is an international leader in exterior light installations projecting light for commercial and artistic/non-commercial applications. He is currently commissioned to produce a piece for the Beijing Olympics 2008 and by the Polish Government to produce a light installation in Jerusalem as a gift to Israel from Poland on the 60th anniversary of Israel as an independent country. Locally, Kresa has lit buildings in downtown Los Angeles reflecting similar themes.

The project was endorsed and co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood, Voice of My People Foundation, Bart Kresa Design, West Hollywood Gateway, Target West Hollywood Store, Images by Lighting, Pani, Combined Properties, Inc., Growing Generations, Barong Furniture and Accessories, Christopher StreetWest and our individual sponsors; Leslie Belzberg, Stan Berkman, Todd Bloom and Robert Nieto, Sheryl Gold and Marla Sandow and the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund.
