BIG SUNDAY/MITZVAH DAY Kol Ami has long been dedicated to Social Action—and this year is no different. Join us on Big Sunday—Sunday May 4, 2008 as we join with synagogues, churches, schools and organizations all over Los Angeles to make a difference in our community. GO to the Big Sunday website www.bigsunday.org to pick a project on your own or better yet, join the Kol Ami group and Religious School on Sunday morning from 9:00 a.m. until Noon to help pick up and clean up our neighborhood around the temple. SO join us for Project #0295, Pick-Up, Paint-Out, Plant, and Picnic in Hollywood. Our wonderful old friends from the Hollywood Schoolhouse are back to plant new trees, and maintain some of the 70 other trees they've planted in the neighborhood surrounding their school over the past few Big Sundays. Volunteers will also paint out graffiti, and pick up trash and doogie-poop. (Hey, it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.) And all the hard work will culminate in a delicious and fun barbeque for neighborhood families and Big Sunday participants. (With an extra dessert going to whoever got stuck picking up the dog poop.)
